Soundcards are basically useless unless you're recording or something. The onboard soundcards on motherboards are far more than good enough.

sort of. soundcards are must better used when you are recording something or maybe some music editing stuffs. If you are just listening to music, i feel that onboard graphics are much better.

I woulden't waste my money. If I were you, I'd send the card you bought back.. and spend the money on something else.. Unless you have REALLY fantabulous speakers, or you have really great ears, you will barely hear a difference. Onboard sound is fine for most cases.

Souncard sound quality is pretty well always better than onboard. It should also improve gaming performance as the CPU no longer has to deal with sound.

    Thanks...

My CPU should be able to handle it fine, but it helps.

    I dunno, do you?
A sound card would take a bit of stress off of you system for gameing, but other than that haveing a sound card is pretty much worthless if you have onboard sound. I could only see the benefit of haveing an SC if gameing were a big thing.
