The point is, that if and when asked to stop, he did. He continued ONLY in the sanctioned area for it. I fail to see any issues with that at all. I do see an issue with someone using their power to get their way without first trying to avoid it, and after looking at logs, and chatting with all parties concerned, it would appear there was little attempt to stop the 'harassment'. Staff members are offended all the time, as an admin its not my job to back my staff in all situations, especially on this site, where most of the moderators have no problem throwing their weight around, myself included, and I feel that most other sites have a more balanced staffing situation. In fact, I have even made movements towards leniency, less rules, less regulations so that staff couldn't abuse their privileges, but they all seem to fail as the staff members don't care to follow them. As far as my personal decisions. Staff on GR does not operate on a dictatorship basis. Nearly any remotely large point is discussed between a bare minimum of the IRC, and 90% of the time a topic is made in the staff forum where we vote for an end decision for at least a 24 hour, generally a 72 hour basis. Very rarely do I, Logic, Shaggy, or Draven do things without consulting the other staff members, or administrators (in the case we feel that other moderators say wouldn't be of major concern to ourselves, such as new mods for the site, removing staff, etc.). Nearly all controversial situations I have been involved in I have had the full support of the staff, and a staff vote took place. Again, my position on staff is reserved to be the hard ass, and thus the reason I am responsible for most of the controversial topics is because I am the one willing to do them because I don't truly care about my reputation here on the site. I am the demoter of staff, the banner of long time members, the creator of rules which appear out of line, enforcer and backer of rules, and as such, my reputation amongst members whom don't know me tend to judge me based on those actions. Had this been an IRC ban, I would have easily backed my staff members. But considering I know both of the staff members on a personal basis, and their ability to handle situations is very much so based on what type of situation it is, and whom the target is, and who the 'attacker' is, I can wave it as being little more than an overreaction.

According to your logic though it would be perfectly appropriate to be posting porn, GoatSE, and lemonparty images. His picture was not conceptually different than those. Last word was a unanimous decision last I remembered, and every staff member agreed under the agreed upon rules which are pinned in the topic. Harlequins are FAR different from goatse, mr hands, mrs hands, 2girls1cup, fingerpainting, sandbox, porn, lemon party, snuff, etc. The false accusations is that he posted said image in IRC, which, from all the logs I have, it is not shown in the IRC. I see Jay / Tnuck posted a picture, and thus got banned, and Jamie said, 'ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha' on multiple lines (3) and then he was banned after stating, 'go have your harlequin baby'. Not a single effort on anyones parts to tell him to stop. None whatsoever before being banned. The only other bits of this were counteracted by a simple, 'shut up maj' or 'don't say that maj' where he often apologized and stopped. No action was taken short of a ban. IRC ban is fine, it was inappropriate, not an extreme rule breaking by any means. He then came to the free for all flame forum, and posted the image, telling Kirbir to have a harlequin baby, no pornographic images or adult imagery that requires you to be over 18 to view, no issues, perfectly within site rules, and you not only removed those topics for being offensive (which is the purpose of the flame forum), but banned him for it. 6 months, 1 warning, for Majin. You know just as well as I do, and we have been over this a hundred times. Staff has more important things to do than keep on someone to keep them banned banning multiple accounts daily / weekly, and we know for a fact hell be here tomorrow, if not on Maj, on another one of his like 40 some accounts, or the multiple tens of proxies he has, or his extremely dynamic IP, etc.. He is rarely warned at all before pursuing formal action, which we give to all of our members, except those were biased to, again something you can account for. Banning him on the site, again, was overboard for what he did.

We've been much harsher with other members, I don't see why we should treat someone with a past history differently. Especially someone who has bragged about the number of times he's been banned. The Last Word was far from unanimous, there were two No votes as well as two very apprehensive yes's. Okay it wasn't Maj, but we both know Tnuck and Maj knew what happened in IRC to each other when posting the image. He then goes and posts in on the forum. He knew perfectly well the image was inappropriate. I fail to see the difference, GoatSE wasn't 18+, it was disturbing and gross. The exact same as his pic. Not to mention it was created to personally attack a single member. So we don't bother punishing Maj because it's simply not worth the effort. Great precedent. Why don't we let everyone with a dynamic IP post whatever they want.
So, thats 90%. Remove one, and suspend him for 7 days. You said it yourself, banning was too far and if there was another option you'd have done that instead. Goatse is 18+, its a man pulling his ass open and his balls and cock dropping down on the picture, clearly visible. That is clearly 18+, where a baby with cracked skin and inside - out eyes is very much PG-13. After months worth of time invested in tracking someone for the sole purpose of banning them while ignoring our other duties as a moderator on this site, thats what needs to be done. I would much rather 1 ass hat continue posting (even if ban evading) if we clear the entire render section, or something to that relation. Maj isn't the only current, the only past, or going to be the last one we do this for. I fail to see how an image made for the intention of attacking a member in the flame forum, intended to be a no rules forum is a bannable offense.

I realize that I usually aren't on the best terms with people and am usually inactive... but I feel Majin is a good soul at heart. So what if he takes his trolling and lurking too seriously, I feel he should be allowed to flame in the flaming forums... even if the joke is a bit extreme.
