I have noticed the forum is down at odd periods for me. Maybe others? Usually works after a few hours but I am just wondering of the downtime is intentional or not! Thanks, Nathan
Shaggy's hosting company has accidentally swapped the backup systems to mid day (like say 4 to 8pm) instead of early / moderate morning (like say 2-6am). It would appear most of the downtime occurs during the backup phase, Shaggy is already working with the hosting company to get it set back to early mornings.
Cool. Just in case ask him to check if he has 12 hour backups. Cause I get the downtime during 6ish pm my time and 2-3ish am my time. So that would be ummm MST in Alberta. Edit: Also what hosting company is he with? With mine backups aren't even noticed.
I can guarantee your site also isn't a site with 210,000 members and nearly 3.3 million posts. He also has about 15 other websites on the same server that he owns and are getting backed up at the same time with quite a bit of member flow throughout the day. What kind of downtime are you getting? I myself am MST and on GR most of the day (I work in an office overnight, so for instance I am at work atm) and rarely experience any true downtime, just random IPS driver errors once in a while throughout the day.
Well my website isn't released yet. So your right. Downtime I am getting is when I try to access the website it just times out. All my other sites work fine fast. I checked my wireless network and that doesn't help either. It's not a big deal, I just wanted to let someone know if they didn't notice or others were getting this error but not reporting it. Always works around 5 am anyways when I get home from work so not a big deal. Just on my days off is when I experience it.
