well that seems stupid so its how well someone can learn techniques from your PSD??? i put 1 vote for replacing that section with a photography section ^.^
What about the crews without members with DSLRs? Regardless of skill, a photo taken with a Point&Shoot isn't going to look anywhere near as good as a photo taken with a DSLR.
surely there would be one person in each team who would have a camera and if we make it a tag sized comp surely that sounds better than seeing who the ------ can make the best PSD to learn from... really?
Learning is a major part of the forums. Photography... well its not as major a part. The point of this battle isn't just to determine the most skilled, its about giving back to gamerenders and representing gamerenders. So the learning PSD is in fact a MAJOR role in this competition.
So how does the PSD get voted on? Is it just based on how well the tag looks or how easy it is to learn from, because that's a hard thing to judge.
honestly how well u vote on it?? will it be the best looking? the best explained? the best technique? and one loophole do we have had to made the tag. because the way you explain it as learning being a big part often learning PSD are not made by the person selling.........
How well written it is I would assume. How much does it teach people? What does it teach people? How easy to understand is it? How useful is it? I sincerely believe that you could think about these things a bit more on your own before making a huge deal about it not making sense. We can ask Logic for confirmation on your loophole there, I personally think that the best learning psd would come from the person who made it. Selling it and the normal way things are done have nothing to do with a competition. And as a side note, how good the tag is will probably go hand in hand with the main criteria, because if you supply someone with a terrible tag, what are you teaching them? How to suck massively? I don't see that getting many points for being useful or educational.
I agree, and I don't see what everyone's problem is this competition is to try new things and to have fun and people are making more out of it then they should.
Its supposed to be fun, absolutely, but its also about the community ^_^ People are being a bit too selfish, that's the issue I see here. Showing off and becoming better artists is NOT the purpose of the official crew. To support my point more, the helping members part. There's your learning PSD. With the responsibility of aiding in the voting process for competitions they have to have a certain level of integrity as well.
I would have thought the whole learning PSD thing would be more to assess what skills the official crew members have they can pass on. If it were me, I'd choose a winner based on: Structure - A well structure tag, that's correctly organized and labelled Efficiency - Unlike a regular tag, the actual method you made it is under scrutiny, not just the final outcome. Judges will be able to see exactly what changes were made, what techniques the artist implemented, and how much of the tag was contained in the original stock/render (look out all those people that cling to realism as their chance to seem better than they are) Complexity/Simplicitiy - Someone who makes a complex tag in a simple way is ideal. It's much harder to pass down techniques that require 25 different layers / adj. layers, than ones which utilize 5-10. Level of polish - Mistakes, holes, and meaningless adj. layers can all be seen clearly in a PSD. It really seperates those who see the results then work to create them, from the people who mess around until they get something they like the look of. It's pretty much a good chance to really identify what skills are being utilized in the crew.
Hmmm That's a really good way to look at it too •_• I think we have all seen someone at some point make a tag that looks great but only has like 8 layers, not to exclude myself, I know I've done that at least a couple of times.
