Hmm... depends. People have all right to sell their tutorials - especially if they've put much work into it and it's worth the money.

But generally, I think they should be free..

Sure, sell them, whatever floats your boat. It's not like credits are worth anything.

It depends on the quality of the tutorial. For example I sold my tutorial for 50 creds becasue I was in need of money. It was extremely detailed (755x7000 pixels), it was a completely new style, and I only got good comments. Plus it was cheap. But lets say someone is selling a tutorial for 100 creds and all it teaches you is how to put a C4D render on an ugly gradient with some scan lines and it was only 500x1000 pixels long. The first example is an example of tutorials that should be sold and the second one is an example of tutorials that shouldn't be sold.

Why don't you just let the tutorial maker decide. I mean come on, it is there work in the first place (hopefully) and they should be able to decide if it is free or if it cost money. A lot of things in life work that way. If you are afraid of being ripped of then don't buy a tutorial, there are many tuts for free that are about the same quality as one going for 50-100 credits

Some should be free, but others that show you really advanced stuff should be sold.

it should also be very detailed and that's why i think the tutorial guru's should get to take a look at it with the preview intact or the person who made it put their username as a pattern so they don't get ripped

i am just against the newb tuts being sold for 100 to 150 creds and it teaches you absolutely nothing at all..i mean stott's tut are very nice and you learn a lot from them, some are just very poorly written

    Exactly
If you want to learn then put effort in getting the credits to buy it, people sell sigs and they don't do anything, but tutorials mostly takes more work and actually helps the buyer progress. Don't expect everything for free.
