Shell Themes

    I've seen these (what appaer to be) Shell themes around, and I'm curious, what exactly is a Shell Theme? I see different categories on deviantart, and I'm not exactly sure whats the difference between them =/

    Example: Difference between Aston and Blackbox?

    Aston and Blackbox are two different programs, i believe..

    Ok then, thats what I had suspected. But what about my first question?

    Its a program that is designed to replace the standard images on your OS to that you can have more flexibility in the look of your OS. It is a shell (as it is called), that masks the images of your OS to look like something else (which is why they use memory if they arent programmed to be a part of the OS - which only has one alternative skin, being royale for the media center version skin). Meaning they get covered up by new images, but the system still technically considers the origional skin to be there (which is why it takes mroe memory than a regular OS skin).
