Ok, so..I'll explain.. Ok, I have 3 computers in the house and an Xbox that runs Xbox Live. I have 2 dells, and one Mac, the dells use a Windows OS So I'm on my Mac's wireless internet right now and it works just fine..But when i go on my laptops internet it doesn't work, or when I plug in the ethernet cable into my desktop and into the router it doesn't work.. But I don't understand tihs when my Mac's internet connection is working.. When I try to sign in on Xbox Live it says DNS servers could not be reached or something simular to that, how do I fix this? Edit : Another problem is when I try connected a Crossover cable to from my tower to the Xbox and an ethernet cable from my tower to the router and try to access Xbox Live it sayd DNS addresses couldn't be found or something simular to that.. I've been getting all these internet problems like once every week or once every 3-6 weeks, And it takes FOREVER to fix because I don't know what to do!! I somehow fixed it last time, but I didn't really know what I was doing.. I HATE MY CONNECTION..It sucks..PERIOD
Hmm..you can try doing this.. Run<cmd ipconfig/flushdns ipconfig/registerdns thats all I can think of gl...
Well I dont know if it would work but its worth trying at least.. Go to Start and click on Run. In Run type cmd, and enter. Now on the black command screen type in the following ipconfig/flushdns (press enter and wait for it to show dns statistics, which will be blank.) Now, type: ipconfig/registerdns (press enter, when its done just close the window and then try)..
Whenever I call SBC to attempt to get my internet fixed they ask me a whole bunch of questions like : What's your OS? What are you having trouble with? Have you had DSL working in your house before? Etc.. And then I talk with a real agent.. This is what he tells me exactly what to do.. First he asks me my name so he gets to know me..And then he asks me what your having trouble with..I say, i'm having trouble connecting to the Internet..and he says Ok. Then he tells me to shut down all of the computers and tells me to shut off the modem first, then shut dow the router first. So I do that, he tells me to wait for 15 seconds and then turn on the Modem first and then turn on the Router first..Ok so I do that, now he tells me to try to access the internet, but still the internet doesn't work.. Then he asks me what kind of Router I have and I say Linksys. And then he says, I'm sorry, we're not supposed to change the router's settings or we could be sued by Linksys.. And so I ask, what routers do you support, and he says Netgear.. !! Ok then he says I'm sorry that's all I could do for you, and I was like what the hell.. But then he told me, ok, open the internet browser and type in 192.168.0.1 , and so I do it, but nothing happens and I tell him.. Then he's like, Ok, I'm going to send a technician to your house in 4 hours, and he gives me a troubleshoot ticket.. So then I waited for about 6 hrs, and no technician came or called..I got mad !!! What's the whole point of sending a technician if he doesn't come..IDIOT !!!
Sorry for the double post.. But do you think that would fix all of the computers connection ..? I'm going to try it right now..
Sorry for the double post.. But do you think that would fix all of the computers connection ..? I'm going to try it right now.. [/b][/quote] No...like I said " Well I dont know if it would work but its worth trying at least.." Wait...I know how to do this the easy way! Go to...Control Panel<Network Connections Then, right click on your Local Area Connection and go to Repair. Should do what I told you to do before for you. god why do i think of the easy ways now.. I dont know anything else to do DNS wize. Maybe if you just take the normal precautions, cycleing your router and modem for example.. Just unplug the power on ur modem, then unscrew the otehr cable on the modem. Now unplug the power cord from the router and wait 30 seconds. Now plug in the router again, then screw in the modem cord, and plug in the main power cord on the modem, wait for all lights to lite up and your done. Will it help? No...but its nice to know of anyway XP Do the computers, Dell ones, work? If no then lets see..Go to Control Panel<Network Connections Right click on the icon for the LAN connection or whatever connection there is. Go to status. Check if there are any packets sent and receieved. if there are not then you got no internet connection at all forget about DNS...

I been thru this before also, I know how it is. My connection would go out randomly for 2-3 hours a day...How was it finally fixed? No clue...Just waited it out maybe..and yea it lasted a few weeks for me also but my connection ended up getting upgraded and it worked fine after that.. And instead of that dnsflush and dnsregister stuff just do this.. Go to Control Panel<Network Connections Then, right click on your Local Area Connection and go to Repair.
Yeah that was happening to me too, I waited for like 3 days and sometimes 1 week + .. What I don't get is what makes it do that.. And I've tried Repairing it, The signal says it's Excellent, but the Internet still doesn't work..Its pissing me off... I think it's the router settings, because one time I went to the router setup site thing, and then all i did was press submit, and I got disconnected on Xbox Live.. What's WAN stand for btw?
WAN- Wide Area Network they support Netgear? damn, a tech from SBC came over to my house and said he can't service it... they have to get their services straight.. get Road Runner, man. It's much better. (beat me to it, Diablo )
