Hi, this is what is wrong with my pc. Whenever I try to play video games, use photo shop, listen to music, watch videos, or go to any website containing music or video graphics, my screen freezes about every 30 seconds. The freezing lasts for about 10-20 seconds then 30 seconds later it freezes again. This continues until I close out the program.

    Here is my system info:
    Compaq Presario Series 5000
    Model # 5422RSH
    Pentium 4 1.8 GHz processor
    512 MB RAM
    60GB Hard Drive
    16X Max DVD-Rom Drive
    16X Max CD-RW Drive
64MB nVidia GeForce2 MX Graphics Card

I have already updated all of my drivers and switched to DirectX 9.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend reinstalling your video drivers, and if that doesn't work, reinstall windows.

all the drivers are up to date and that program didnt find any trojans, but it found about 40 taks running and i dont know which ones need to be running or not. I tried to kill a few that i know aren't needed but I cant get them to close.

When did you start having problems? You can use system restore and roll back windows to a date when you wasn't having any problems. But make sure your box is clean of trojans, spyware and the sort before you use system restore.

I would format, and if that doesnt work then replace your gfx card. Geforce 2 is outdated anyway.

I wouldn't, I would for a 9600 XT or GeForce FX5700. You can get both for $100 or even less on www.newegg.com probably. Don't get a GeForce 4, it's not worth it.
