This is a very crude tut on how to make scan lines.
Open a 3X3 file with a transparent background. Then make a pattern like so.

    or dots
    [IMG]
    or straight across

    Well you see the point
when you get it the way you want go to edit define patter.
Then select the thing you want to add it to. I'll use this.

    right click> select all
then grab you paint bucket tool and click patter then just click on your image. Here's what you should have.

Can you explain this more clearly, because it isn't working for me. I've always wanted to know how to do this.

You have to make a 3pixel by 3pixel new file with a transparent background. You then zoom in to the max so you really have 9 squatres to fill up. For the diagonal lines going top right to bottom left, fill in the top right pixel, middle one, and bottom left one.

Go to edit --> Define Patter, save it as whatever you want.

To us you apply pattern to you layer and maybe lower the opacity a bit so does not show up tomuch

Repeat the first steps and fill in different pixels depending on how you want your scan lines to run.

no, it makes the pixels areound it relatively lighter than the black thats being placed neer them. just lower the layer opacity if you need to reduce that a little. I don't reaqlly use PS and I know that...

If you're following what the first post said, and what I explained in a bit more detail and you're having that problem, I think it might be the brush size that you are using. Ensure that you're using your pencil tool, at ONE pixel, and make it black.
