it's just as possible as and FYI you don't need to install SATA drivers, most OSes(modern linux, windows, and later revisions of OSX) all recognize SATA devices without any sort of 3rd party driver. IDE compatibility has been built into OSes since 1986 and in terms of data signalling. in short, the drive controllers have been built into harddrives since before I was born(and likely you as well). Signaling compatibility is a non issue - it's taken care of at the hardware level, not the software level(like graphics cards, soundcards, many motherboard features and peripherals) Also, if the OS didn't recognize the drive, you would not be able to start such said OS, yet alone install drivers - the drive would affectively be unaccessable. by chance are you trying to partition the drive?
