JEEZ! How uneducated the people around here are! No im jking man ;). The Japanese were the first to invent gunpowder. [/b][/quote]
Did anyone ever see The Last Samurai?

At a time when the Western world was still beating each other with clubs, the Samurai were the most sophisticated warriors in the world. A knight would be cut in 10 pieces before he knew what hit him.

I would say samurai hands down. Their skill with swords is FAR better. Their swords are tougher, lighter, and stronger then the knight. Yes the knight has full mteal or steel armor but all armor has weaknesses all the samurai would have to do is get a swing at the neck or the armpit area and the knight armor is rendered useless. As far as a knight with a lance goes alot of lances were made out of wood with the sharp tip and very bad at arms length. So what would happen if the samurai gets close or cuts the lance in half? That looks like a dead knight to me. Samurai's could just pick them off with their bow they are extremly accurate.

Samurai easy, they train 24/7 they rush in to combat and just stab iether right in where the face is visible, or get them in the side then pull body in clos then twist the sword. Knight could win if could predict what samurai was doing but thats next to impossible because each samurai is diffrent. The armor is light but amazingly resiliant.
On top of that the way a samurais armor is designed is used to frighten their enemys and usualys leaves them mentaly weak and unready to fight. A skilled samurai can take on 40 knights easy, a skilled knight can take on 2 samurai. Samurais also train in the art of tacticaly precision, they will wait till the enemy gets close then reveal themselves and go for the kill. The only way a knight can win in most cases is by catching the samurai off gaurd which is very hard to do as they are very watchfull, most of the time.

The last samurai is a good depicition of what real samurais were like, only they were more skilled.
As a matter of fact samurais are what nearly conquered half of the planet twice i might add.

Knight easily. Why? Samurai were in Asia, which was cut off from the rest of the world. While Eurpoe had steel, Asia was working with lesser metals like iron. The Samurai would have a tough time getting through the knight's armor, while the knight kicks the samurai's ass. However, I'd have to choose Samurai's in a army vs army war. Simply because they are well disciplined, and worked better as an army at the time than Eurpoe.

Samurai had lesser metals? lol. Ever heard of folded steel?

Swords in those time were full of impurities made by uneven smithing. The Japanese folded the steel when crafting thier blades, spreading the weaknesses meaning the sword is stronger than any period. And that's without even bringing the methods they used to temper the blades, creating the zig-zagging temper line across the blade's edge in the proccess.

If you look at it that way, a samurai would be lighter and thus making him faster than a knight being weighed down by his heavy metal armour.

A knight is good for fighting other knights, they have no experience in fighting samurais and wouldn't know how to defend themselves against their attacks.
