Well my sister rented this tonight, and I was skeptical since I'm not a huge fan of Paul Walker, mainly because I "didn't" think he could act, no offense to all of the Paul Walker fans out there; and yes I've seen enough of his movies to form that opinion. But out of lack of anything better to do I plopped down on the couch and gave it a try.

Rated R for pervasive strong brutal violence and language, sexuality and drug content.

    SYNOPSIS

Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker) works for the mob, after an intense shootout in a drug-deal gone bad, Joey and fellow mob members discover the men they had shot were actually dirty cops, Joey is then told to dump the guns to get rid of the evidence, instead of doing this Joey hids the guns used in his basement. Unfortunately Joey's son, and his best friend Oleg (Cameron Bright) see where he stashed them, Oleg in turn, takes one of the guns home with him and ends up shooting his abusive father, then runs off into the night.

The whole move then turns into a cat-and-mouse game as Joey is desperately searching for the gun, that if put into the wrong hands, makes him a dead man. All the while one of the dirty cops that lived (Chazz Palminteri) is on his tail, along with his boss and his boss' men watching his every move.

    REVIEW

I won't go into vivid detail with this movie because in all honesty it's very abstract. The synopsis I gave sound simple enough, but it has so many side-stories being thrown at you from all directions it makes for one heck of a ride. Throughout the movie aside from the "hell yeah!" parts, you really come to care for the characters. Oleg, has been through hell and back, and still remains incredibly strong/stable for a boy his age. Joey is in his own personal hell as he tries to desperately track down this one gun that could ruin him.

There is some serious language in this film, I don't think I've ever head the F-word so many times in a movie (except maybe the airport scene in Trains, Planes and Automobiles  ) but it kind of gets you into the movie, and where these people are coming from, and the situations that have been thrust upon them.

The violence is overwhelming as well, but some of the shots will leave you wide-eyed, and a mouth gaped open. There's some wonderfully well-shot footage in this film. And although there's a lot of guns, a lot of bullets, a lot of pain, sweat and blood, it really gets your adrenaline going :D

Also there are some serious "WTF?!" parts in this film, when/if you ever watch this movie, you'll understand what I mean when it gets to that part. Thankfully this movie delivers in the "I hope that person gets what they deserve" dept.

As for the ending, delivers as well. After such a good movie you'd hate to see it wasted on a horrid ending, like I've seen SO many times before. But in my opinion, this movie ended in a superb fashion, so hopefully if you watch it you'll think the same.

So my last words are, this movie is definitely worth the rental fee, I was surprisingly impressed with it. I should also mention Paul's Wife in the movie Teresa is played by Vera Farmiga, who does a wonderful job. Cameron Bright is a young rising star who I think will go far with his acting abilities. Again, great movie, I highly recommend it.
