or mabye just set a theme like sotw or what not itd be easier becuz then the renders wouldnt be so simple
It'd be boring for the judges to look through all the renders and go, well, this one has some white stuff, while this render looks better. It's different though with sigs cause they're really unique while with renders some people render the same image.
Not neccessarily 'instead' of sigs, but as well. But yeah, I think a render of the week would be kick ass.
It could be fun, but there are too many obligations over it. 1. You cannot guarantee how many people would actually enter. If we posted a challenging render then it could take up lots of time, and people have lives. In addition, I think rendering is a thing people do as a hobby because they enjoy it, ROTW would be forcing people to render one picture (if they did enter) and they might not be in the mood at that time. 2. As said, the results will be similar, almost identical if you have a couple of good renderers entering. How would we (I'm taking it as the staff) judge this. Not all of us have a rendering experience and of course, it'll be almost impossible to judge and get a right result if it's singled down to 2 or 3. 3. As said again, the winners would probably be repetitive, the ''good'' renderers have a better chance of course, and if many people dont enter, then they will always win. There are too many risks to guarantee if it'll be a sucsess or not. Providing prizes may also be a waste if the same people are winning over and over again. We could I suppose, set up a poll and see how many people are interested and would enter this. And we would probably need a judge team (some experienced renderers) but wouldn't all the experienced ones be entering ... If we did a public vote, there are always the popularity contests and the fake accounts. Too much to risk at the moment IMO.

Why not let people decide their own pics they want to render, and have it judged on a few aspects... pic quality rendering skill originallity of the pic usability Make it so everyone that has over 100 posts can vote, but they have to follow those guidelines. A scale of 1-10 for each category. Then tally up the total scores to see who wins. It would be really nice if it were a private rating contest, say I post my scores...you wouldn't be able to see them until all judging is finished. It could work.
hmm rendering 1 pic would be bad, but perhaps just a themed game will be an option. then not just the rendering counts, but the quality of the render as well, stuff like that
X-treme Rendering. Get 10 people to come online at the same time. Admin posts a picture and you get 10 mins to render it as well as possible.. if ur not in by the time limit your out and the winner is the best looking one.. how do u judge which is best looking one? short time means alot of mistakes and unclean cuts.. winner takes how X-treme Render title.. N.B X-treme means Extreme for those who are under 10yrs old, mentally disabled or American
Good point. I would say the staff should pick a theme and people would have to find their own pictures and render them.
