I really do feel like venting, sure, it's actually unhealthy according to studies (need me to get you a link?), but I'm bored and it's 6 in the morning and I start school soon. So here is my rant on the rock music of today. It has a build-up. ^_^ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There is a plague being bestowed upon the youth of America, as if this country hasn't been ignorant enough lately, we have to be ignorant on what I feel is one of the most important things this world has to offer: Music. Back in 1990s, we had grunge, which would possibly be the LAST HUGE rock revolution that was GOOD. Then in about 1996 to 1997, it lost popularity as bands broke up and of course Cobain's death 2-3 years before hand. Then we had shït like KORN and LINKIN PARK, and bands alike that tore all the goodness that was rock music up and poisoned the minds of people who didn't want to take the time to LISTEN to bands like Sonic Youth, Anthrax, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, and more. We hit the new millenium, and as it went through, we got even MORE shït coming in. Let's get this straight, the guitar work for mainstream rock music has gotten less and less unique, but STILL the idiots of Generation Y think it's good. They need a fûcking slap across their ignorant faces. The guitar work in about 90% of fûcking rock music today is as repetitive as anything I have ever listened to. It is possibly more fûcking repetitive than a male country voice. It's annoying, it SUCKS, but people won't see that it does because they won't take the time to COMPARE AND LISTEN to music. Then, these fûcking retards hide behind the word "opinion". They coward behind it because they're cornered and can't give a logical explanation to their fûcking STUPIDITY. "Oh, respect my opinion." "It's my opinion!!!" You can have an opinion, but that stupid opinion can be wrong or right just like everything else. People just don't get that. Opinions can be wrong and right just like everything else. And quite frankly, a lot of rockers today have the wrong opinion. Bands like Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, PARAMORE, Linkin Park, Korn, Dashboard Confessional, Hellogoodbye, and so many more of these fûcking atrocious bands have DESTROYED everything rock was GOOD for. Why can't any of those ignorant fools take the time to dig deeper into rock music? MTV, MTV2, VH1, and even Fuse are not that damn good a resource to listen to music. Nothing on TV is. People have become more and more ignorant as the generations go by. I bang my head on my desk as I see people go around praising these bands, BUT, you tell them a band who sold 6 million+ on a record and helped in the revolution of rock music, they don't have a DAMN clue who the band or musician is. Why is it? Have the shït we see on MTV have been controlled so damn much they won't even fûcking show you everything rock has to offer? Is this the problem that caused all you idiots to come about? This is absolute crap. Rock music has declined, and it's repetitiveness and lack of uniqueness is becoming like rap music today. Never have I have to look so hard to look for good rock or rap music. Never have I have to do that. You have disgraced me, rock. You have disgraced me with the same tunings and notes these bands give. You have disgraced me with the ignorant people who say "OMFGDISBANDIZAWESOM1!!!!!!". You have disgraced me the most by not even being music anymore. It's capitalism. Pure. Capitalism. Rock music is digging up its own grave. It's sad to see it go down the hole, but it is, and nobody has the balls to be UNIQUE. Phail. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Moderators if you feel like letting the censor go on my swearing, go ahead. I don't mind. I don't need swearing to intricately destroy opinions. I've never done it before, but people won't listen until you start using these stupid four letter words. <_<
I have to agree for the most part, I like some...older, classic rock like Deep Purple, old Metallica, Iron Maiden etc. And although the VERY large majority of music spewed out today is mainstrem un-original crap, a couple of rock bands are original, new (To the mainstream) and still very good. Prime example, being Muse.
There's Muse, The Hives, and a lot of bands, but do you see these bands getting the same publicity as something like, say, Fall Out Boy? Or how about the absolute wimpiness that is Nickelback? Of course not. Rock music, like I said, has turned into capitalism, not expression. Which is becoming a worse and worse problem as the years go by.
