Merged Post: bump help?
Not needed, do the above that I said.. go to support.hp.com and look up your model, look for downloads, or post your model here, so i can look for it for you..
I'd suggest shutting it down... I never use it and plus, it will not help you with viruses. most of them copy themselves onto system restore...
This is System Recovery***, not System Restore he is talking about. Do you have a Windows disc by any chance? Usually (with my xp pro disk) when i pop it in like you're going to install, and that blue screen comes up to either 'Install', 'Exit', etc, there is usually a choice there to use System Recovery. Try that maybe?
Ok, Gay hp never came witha revoery disk, they charge for those. I want to RECOVER to my previous hp factory settings cause my damn Windoes XP home wont detect my ethernet ports, so i cant connect to internet....I dled the drivers on the hp site but they dont help..
Which operating system did you try to install? Vista? Or XP Home? I'm confused. Are you sure that your comp diddn't come with a disk? It might not be a recovery disk, but its any disk that you use to reformat etc. If you do, pop that in and hit "Repair Install" or whatever looks like that.
I've got an HP PC and I know what you're talking about. HP stores the restore part on a seperate 10GB HD. You apparently need all the original parts in your PC to be able to do a system recovery, but I've heard otherwise. Make sure you're hitting the right button at startup too, because there is one button for the BIOS (F11 on my PC) and one button for the system recovery (F1 on my PC). The screen telling you what button to press comes up really fast, so make sure you've hit the right button.
