Hey guys, I just plugged my friends iPod into my iTunes, and all of his songs were overwritten with ALL of mine. It was syncing and when I got back everything was gone! Please anyone is there any way to get all his songs back?!

100 creds to person who will help me!

Unfortunately, there is no way to get them back. iPods are normally programmed into an "auto-sync" mode. This means that when you plug it into a computer, it automatically syncs with that computer. The ONLY way to use multiple computers that I know of without deleting or overwriting any music is to put it into "Manual" mode. However, this can only be done from the original computer if you don't want to lose any files. IF you want to know more about how to put it in manual mode, let me know. I'll post up a quick tut.

Wow now that's good service, you said exactly what Apple said. Thanks for your help. I would appreciate if you could post that manual mode tutorial.

Yeah this "auto-sync" mode sounds a little bad... It would be better if it alerted you before erasing your files!

    Alrighty, here goes...

    1. Open iTunes
    2. Select your iPod
    3. Select the summary tab at the top
    4. Make sure that the "Manually manage music" (or something similar to that) box is checked
    5. Click OK, then Apply

whats so great about ipods anyways? To me their is absolutely no benefit to the autosync mode. I've used 3 different kinds of mp3 ipod insignia and sansa so far the insignia's only problem was that it was not waterproof when my roomate threw my pants in the wash and the sansa is so much better i don't ever have any issues and it was cheaper i sold my ipod for 250 and my sansa only cost's 120 and it's better

Doesn't everyone like it when you can read it? :P
I don't like big run-on sentences where I have to find out where it stops and starts...
