i'm kinda new to this whole thing with FTP and Cpanel and all that can someone please just explain to me what exactly Cpanel does and why it's usefull?

Yea... And also it makes things easier to upload to your site, you dont need to FTP things to update your site, Cpanel can do that for you with less complications. And as HydrogeN said, its loaded with things such as chatrooms, forums, guestbooks, shopping carts and more. In my opinion, Cpanel is a good thing to have.
