hi guys I just wanted to know if it is illegal to use render, because someone said that it is illegal, because the original pic has COPYRIGHT and no one is allowed to use or render this picture... and can somebody tell me if it is illegal or not?! thx 4 help in advantage
No. It is not illegal to use a render. Only thing which IS illegal is if you are using a render from DeviantArt without the owner's consent.
personally, when i first found otu about renders, i thought it would be illegal. i still don't see how it can be legal, but people do it and don't get in trouble, so i guess it's ok. i'm pretty sure it is becuase they aren't actaully selling anything.
Well it's not just devciant art, you can't just render an image you find on google images of any other site if you don't have permission.
Yeah, you can only use Royalty Free Images. That excludes all Google Images, Deviant art and basically any art site.
every picture on the internet has copyright. if you want to follow the rules, you can't use any picture unless the site tells you that no permission is needed. But only DA and CG-talk take action when they see used pictures without permission. so that's why GR made rule that you need permission from those sites.
okay...so its illegal to render some pics without the permission of the owner? thats not good.. xD thanks anyway ^.^
if its illegal why do i see so many forums with render forums as subpart? its like downloading music and get the riaa behind you with copyright this and that well shall we prohibit the whole internet. (got like 600 mp3's and even more renders) so its not illegal unless you rip renders from deviant art
Wrong. Deviantart provides copyrights as well as MANY Sites. Any site with a render section, has the chance of having an illegal render in it's place. Game Renders etc. Are not illegal, as the Game Producers do not tend to mind people using them. PS : Downloading music is illegal o.o
Umm...no. I think LA put it best, every picture on the internet that has a copyright symbol, author's name, or a watermark means its "protected." The only pictures that you are necessarily allowed to render are ones that do not have a copyright message pertaining to them, and this includes on the site where it was found. Of course, if everything was enforced, then very few of us would have sigs, and if we did we would have had to make it from the bottom up.
I always thought it was okay if their was no profit made from using the other person's image. If it's only being displayed by another artist i never saw the harm..
