    Hair Rendering Tutorial

This tutorial won’t be covering the basics in rendering an image, such as usage of pen/lasso tool, 0.5 feathering, and so on. I won’t be explaining the usage of the tools I mention, because this isn’t intended for people who are using Photoshop for the first time. I expect most people to be familiar with the clone tool and the eraser tool. I’m just introducing a little trick I discovered while doing a render request with lots of (painful) hair.

    Original:

    Step1

Use the Eraser tool at 1 px and erase roughly the background sections behind the hair, without too much care. Try to erase along hair pattern.

It should look something like this.

    Step 2

Use the clone tool at 1 px, and select any part of un-erased hair by holding alt and clicking the desired area. Then, brush over the erased parts of the hair, imitating the strokes of hair. This should replace hairs that were accidentally erased from step 1, or add small hairs on ends to create a more realistic effect.

It should now look like this.

That’s all. Just play with the clone tool, add hair fibers here and there, and you should get a desired effect.

This is the final outcome. Hope this helps someone. reps appreciated if deserved!

Hmm..Nice tut. But the clone stamp would only work for bunches of hair methinks. If it was tons of strands of seperated hair..Be alot harder to do imo.
