I need a little bit help! I have a few graphics with white background and want to remove the white background quickly. i used Paint Shop --- X and used the option to add a layer mask, but this made the whole graphic transparent (ok, the background was erased completely, but the image didnt look very well on a blue background ). I only need the background around the characters in the middle to be removed without pixels all around the graphic cause I want to use it on blue background. the images are currently in .jpg, but ill save em as png once the transparency is there so i get a tranparent background in Word 2007. can anyone help me? I got PS and PSP X
ya in ps trace the outside of the image with either the pen tool or polygon lasso tool then delete the white or you could go to the render request section and ask someone to do it for you
You could zoom in all the way and erase using a 1px eraser, or a larger eraser with low opacity. once you get the very edges erased, you can use a huge one to take out the white surrounding the render. Of course, this might not be the easiest option.
those are the options im already familiar with, but i was wondering if there was a much faster way to do it... like a few clicks that already do it if PSP wasnt making the whole image transparent, everything would be ok and done quickly
magic eraser, or magnetic lasso could do it roughly. also you might want to feather it (select>feather)
Just magic wand the white + 0.2 px feather + 1 px select ->modify->smooth in photoshop, then press delete...
found the fastest and easiest way with PS now. load the image, choose magic wand, select the white, invert the selection now two ways: a) Ctrl + Alt + D (feather) and select a few pixels to get a nice glow around it) B) contract the selection by 1 or 2 pixels create a new image file, paste and save it. done. the feather effect looks quite cool IMO
