Remove Bg's From Text On Desktop

Its a common problem and many people ask about it from time to time and many times they dont get very good or the right answers on how to fix it.
I had this problem myself so i decided to ask some of the experts, or at least i consider them to be. I asked over at Neowin
Here is what i got told, and yes it worked.

Go to your Control Panel
Click the System icon/link
Click on the Advanced tab
Click the Performance button
Find "Use drop shadows on desktop icons" near the bottom of the list and make sure it is Checked

It works but it also slows computer performance (when starting up)

 

How much? Like .5% or something?
It cant be too much. I mean i didnt see a difference.

 

yeah, it's not that much, just takes a few extra seconds, not bad.

i have it on my comp like that, and it goes fine...

 

mine never had a colour behind it so im happy

at least i will no how to get rid of it so thanks
