More and more lately, we've been seeing this "begging" for +reputation. It has got to stop.

People who end their post with "+rep if you like" obviously have no sense of what reputation means. A positive (+rep) point is given under the following circumstances:
    • The member posted useful information
    • The member helped another member out
    • The member has been overall beneficial to the forum
    • The member provided a service free of charge
And, these +reps are to come at the behest of the member giving them. Do not ask someone to give you +rep. It is the same as asking the person to thank you for helping them. They will thank you if they believe you deserve thanks.

Also, the invalid negative (-rep) has to stop. There are not many circumstances which merit a -rep. They include:
    • The member is being uncooperative
    • The member is insulting another member or their work
    • The member is posting profane or vulgar comments or topics
Basically, the list that constitutes valid -reps is the inverse of the list that constitutes valid +reps, with some modifications and changes. Also, a -rep also tends to be worthy of report to a moderator or admin. As you can see, the actions that merit a -rep will usually merit punishment of some sort.

Again, both the valid +rep and -rep lists are not all-inclusive, but they cover more than just the groundwork of what makes up reputation. From now on, we will be handing out warnings for members that violate the new rules on reputation. If you didn't see it already, I'll repeat it.

Members cannot ask for reputation in their posts, in any way, shape, or form.

Repeated violations will be dealt with accordingly. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to post them here or PM any one of the moderators or administrators. We'll be happy to solve any issues.

    Have a nice day,
    The GR Staff

I knew all of this, but I have noticed people using +rep as a currency for the service of a render being completed.

I never say "rep me if you like" or "pliz send all due credits", I simply do my things and let the other side handle the goodies for me.

    Good thinking.

What about in a persons sig? There are objects in some sigs that just say "+ rep" and link you to giving that individual + rep. Is that going against the rule?

You can say cred if used but not +rep if used. His point was to stop asking for it in anyway.

You dont know how long I been waiting for this thread. Thanks dude.

That is different IMO. That is just an extra link to plus rep someone from really...to be honest, their pointless, but I got one cuz i thought mine looked cool XP. They are not used in threads to gain as a currency so no problem with them if ya ask me...unless someone tells someone to click the button in their sig then they'd have a problem

I do agree with this... people put stuff in their sig space saying "+rep me" All I wanna do is -rep them.... I just can't stand people that live by a digital number. Anyway that's just me.

and... if they have +rep me in their signature space, why wouldn't they have -rep ? its stupid .....

Yeah the +Rep is getting kind of getting out of hand.

IMO The +Rep in Signatures should also be removed, we all should know how to give it without that extra link to it.

I agree with this rule to an exact. I hate it when people beg for a + Rep for a half ***'d job. Too many a time have I seen newbies makin' bad renders or tuts an begging for reps...

However, the bad thing is. We all know I have the most Rep on the forum, and lately I've stopped "asking" for reputation, when posting tutorials, renders and etc.

However, theres the problem, I do ASK CLEARLY for a + Rep when I've worked really hard on a project an' feel I deserve some sort of recognition for it (Rendering Tutorial and Kazuya R I P). Surely if someone spends over 10 hours on a project, can hold the right to ask for a reputation?

Either way, I'll stop all together asking for Reputations, seing as I rarely did so anyway. >_<

Thanks for the insight, glad I read this

Ive seen people saying ' Rep is Appriciated. Or deserved' as the moderator said if they think they need to +rep them and they will.

Are you guys actually serious with these questions?

He JUST EXPLAINED, and REPEATED himself like 3 times:

You do not need to point someone in the direction of what you want them to do. If you deserve rep, they will give it to you. They dident forget about the Reputation Mod, they dont need you reminding them to +rep you.

If you made something, and gave it free, you shouldent expect ANYTHING. So dont ask for +rep if its actually free.

Making something in 10 minutes, then giving it out free is good, but plopping "+rep please if deserved" on top, just kills the fact that you are giving it free.

I like this new rule. Maybe it will eliminate -reps for people speaking their minds. I even remember someone getting -repped because they said they hated rap.

When you give away a PSD, you probably do it with the intent of getting rep for it. You CANNOT (as said by Master and Bona) say "+Rep if deserved". If people think you deserve it, you'll get a nice rep no matter what.
