Make sure you backup all your files. My first time I reformatted a computer, I forgot one important folder of mp3s and lost everything. Also I would get a program called Norton Ghost to make an image of your boot hard drive, once you've installed your OS and other programs. Also, make sure you have your drivers ready once your reformat. Gather all your driver cd's or go to the manufacturers website and download the latest one.
Reformatting should be a last resort, not some daily routine. meaning, if your computer gets to the point thats it's unstable, then go ahead.
I totally agree with this do back up everything I remember when I was reformatting I lost almost around 10Gegabyte of work My dad was pissed anyways Just backup eveyrthing that is important and cannot be found online or reinstalled Zain
Also, I would partition your main hard drive. I would give 20 to 30 gigs for the main (C partition or boot partition. For your OS & software. The other partition would be for data and backup. I would put the image of the C: drive in that partition. You can use Partition Magic to do that or just use the OS to do the partitioning.
^Yep, I'd recommend partitioning your drive. Makes live so easy. Just dump all your stuff into the new partition and you're good to go. Also make a list of stuff you want to redownload.
I've run into a pretty big problem. I've done all thats necessary to reboot, yet it's stuck on the blue screen that says something like, " Windows is starting up....." Thats all it shows ever since I did it. And it's been uyp for 8 hours+
Did you change the boot order in the bios to boot from the CD/DVD ROM first the 1st HD? Or did you try installing Windows while having your OS running?
A section in my harddrive was messed up, so I'm only using it for memory storage, and I'm using another for the real work. Everything is better.
