    Do you mean ram?
no formating doesnt. It could just be that ram is used for cd-burning.

no its only registering his computer as having 504mb ram.

this can be caused by a dvd or cd burner using your ram as a buffer. I have an LG cdrw that takes away 20mb ram for its buffer.

also consider that INT GFX or a soundcard might be using it as well and not simply just a CD drive. check BIOS. also, it's 8mb it doesnt' matter worth shid.

they took it off a while ago, just send a PM to a mod, and they'll take care of it...

formatting does not touch your ram. if you have 1gb, it does not matter weather you lose a few mb... even with 128mb, ive seen 130 and 120...

    Bottom line...

If you reformat, you dont lose ram, the reason your computer is showing that it has less ram is because a little bit of your ram's being held back for use with different processes.
