Yeah, I agree, I'm on a lot of forums, and this one always takes longer than the other ones (for obvious reasons)
Bona Fide, not to pick a fight with you. But it does not load as fast as google.com in anyway. Maybe for you, but NOT AT ALL for me. Ever. I am on this forum about 8-12 hours a day. And it loads slow. Why am I on this forum a lot, and the computer is my own personal and business reasons. I'm not a "geek"
I agree that the forum slows down at certain points of the day, especially at about 8-11pm where I live. This is because it is the most popular time of the day and there are a lot of members online at the same time. I will be looking to upgrade the server by the end of the month, but in the mean time I will try to optimise the server to make it run faster at the busier times.
SponX, no offense taken. But you have to understand that at peak hours, 8pm-11pm GMT [3pm-6pm EST], the site will naturally load slower than usual. That's why I'm usually on from 12am-2am GMT, as the load is not as heavy. But I still manage alright during peaks.
I understand fine man. But, you need to look at this being a really huge forum, you need to have the right materials to have such a big forum, with some many people on it so Everyone may load fine, and have fun. Not everyone can stay up to 12am 2am to post you know...?
LoL 12am GMT = 7pm where I live. And you surely understand how high bandwidth costs can be. To run this forum to the full of extent of our 4+mbps connections, Llamaman would need like a quadruple Xeon box, with dual Tier 1 connections. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
