Well the day i became mod at GR, a few days back, my computer was being pretty crappy. I figured it was just overheating, since it only had one internal fan left.

I fought it with a few days, and finally gave up and took it to the Geek Squad, and they basically told me it'd cost more to fix it then it was worth atm, so i just had them remove all the files to a disk for me, and they helped me choose out a new computer.

eMachines 3400+ AMD Athlon 64 Processor, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD+/-RW 16x Double layer drive CD-ROM 48x Max Read, 1024 MB DDR SDRAM....2.40 GHz, 512 KB L2 Cache, and 1600 MHz FSB

Comes w/ a ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphic card, which isn't the best..but it serves for what i need.

I paid around 2,100 dollars and that included a 17" Flat Screen monitor, good speakers, a $75 dollar Razor Diamondback mouse and a printer/scanner/fax machine all in one, with around $350 dollars in mail-in rebates

Did i get screwed? I was going to build my computer ,but i wasn't expectating my computer to crap on me overnight, and needed something fast. Also, i dunno bout you guys, but the Geek Squad really knew their crap around here- i give them A+ for answering all my questions, etc

The Geek Squad near me are all dum asses. I think you would of saved some money building your own though. $2,100 does sound like an awful lot to me but I'm pretty new at building computer so I don't know just sounds like a lot to me.

Should have built your own. I dont trust emachines very much, they seem a bit on the low end side. For $2100 you could have built one in a day and had alot faster machine.

Not bad for what your purpose is, 7.5/10

I'm not into the gaming aspect, so the specs are darn good for me. I don't even download music, so 200 gigs will last me a long time, unless i pick up any new habits ;)

I'm diff going to build another one, most likely in a few months for another project I'm going to try. As for the eMachines part, i have to admit, i wasn't sure i wanted to go with that. I told them about my past experiences, and they said eMachines has just earned a bad rep when they use to sell crappy computers for a few hundred dollars; but now after being bought by Gateway or something like that, their computers are pretty good. I was told most companies buy the parts of computers more often or not from the same places; Radeon for gfx cards, etc...so most computers are the same, you just get what you paid for. Oh for the price btw, that included a new NETGEAR router and wireless adapter, which was like 150 altogether, damn california prices <_<
