I can either do this... Get another 2x512mb here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145450 costs $80 Or, I can try selling my RAM I got allready, and just replace it with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227210 2x1gb for $160?
Man, I replied first off during a Down Time... okay. I said, OCZ seems like a reliable brand and I have been watching their reviews as I was planning on getting the same one as you are picking out there on choice #2. I think that you should sell whatever you have and get the 2x 1GB sticks because you will have a chance to upgrade later on, ie two more slots to use for more gigs. Just my two cents.
I dont think a few of you understood me. In that choice 1, I already got that 2x512mb ram, but I have 2 more slots I can full...so would it be slower to have 4x512mb than 2x1gb? thats what I meant..I think and idk how to sell my RAM o.o
i think you should stick with AKW's understanding. In the future, if you want even more then 2 GB of RAM and you want to use that, then you will have two more slots open
You can sell your RAM on, and excuse me for slightly advertising, HERE. I seriously am just trying to help there, with the other forum and all. They have GREAT buys and sells. ^__^ Merged Post: Sorry... it is at the very bottom, where you sell. Wonderful idea though. For a forum! a sell topic like that... oh wait.. we may have that here too... who knows. =)
for the truth. the memory controller on AMDs CPUs can only support 6 "memory things" (can't remember the name, oops) at ddr400 or above in dual channel any higher and you're bumped to DDR333, typically most ram DIMMs contain 4 to a set of dual channel ram so you'de be put at 8 with the first option and would be running either in single channel or on a divider by default. yes, see above, the memory controller can't support 4 standard dimms at DDR400 or higher speeds. alos if you go for the 2gb, try to get DDR500 sdram, the higher clock speeds make up for the high latency and then some(typicality) remember latency is in measure fo clocks so it's nto as bad as you might think if you increase the latency on the ram by 30%/clock and the clocks by 25% especially when consider the fact that you get increased memory bandwidth too...
.. xelink, ya lost me there.. xD but I'm thiking u want me to go with 2x1gb xD its too late for me to figure out what ya said, i need rest..xP
ok, diablo, long story short, expect that when you have all 4 dimm slot full that you won't be runnnign at full speed, it's just a fact.
