Guys I might be upgrading my ram w/ dual channel and I was just wondering how I would run it in dual channel

so lets say these numbers represent the slots you place your ram into
    1 2 3 4

If I wanted to run it in dual channel do I need to put the ram in slot 1/3 or 2/4?? or does this not matter

The 1st two slots are channel A, the last two are channel B.

So put a stick in slot 1 and slot 3.

as has been said to an extent either 1+3 or 2+4, which it doesn't really matter.

It depends on what motherboard you have. For example, my motherboard uses 1+3 and/or 2+4, but my friend's motherboard uses 1+2 and/or 3+4

it uses the two 64bit lanes as a single 128 bit lane.(or in the case of RAMBUS, two 16 bit buses are used for 32 bit data transfer)

dual channel doesn't even apply to computer kid since he only has a socket 754 proc and board. the IMC on 754 CPUs is incapable fo running memory modules in dual channel configuration

yes, Xelink, but you can still run Dual Channel ram on a non-dual motherboard. I've done it on my old Socket A only because that 2x512 was cheaper than buying 2 seperate 512s, or 1gb....

technically there is no such thing as dual channel Ram you know. sort of like hwo there are no such thing as RAID harddrives.

it's just somethign you cna do with RAM all RAM can be dual channel RAM if you buy a second stick which is close enough to it(same ICs similar spds etc.)
