So, I'm trying to make a new computer, and I want it to fly. I'm looking to make an SLI based system, but I've heard that you need a pretty big processor to make it worth the extra card. Anyone know if there is any truth to that? Also, is dual core processors worth it? I was thinking going with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+, but im not sure if the dual core thing is worth it.
if you're going dual core, go at least 4400+, as that one has 2x1mb l2 caches, not 2x512kb. and for a top of the line sli system, you really will need a great processor to push the dual gpus (get 2x7800gtx) to their limits.
the x2s will be fine for sli. yes the x2s are worth it as they are the future and programs for the are being made right now.
