Well this is something which bothers me, when i download a program it sets it to a type of file so when i double click a file it opens with that program, but i don't want this to happen i want to open text files in notepad and the word files in word but it opens the text in word as well even though i created it in notepad.

This is the same for pictures, i don't want to use Office Picture viewer i want to use the default, so will some one tell me how to change the program that certain files open with thnx.

    Open a folder and go:

Tools > Folder options > File types

and find the file extensions that you want to alter (probably .txt or .rtf) and you can change the programs they open with there.

Another way of doing this would be ..

Right Click on the file > Select Open With > Then Choose Program

Select the program and make sure the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box is checked.
