When someone says "Doesn't look like you did anything" to one of your realism pieces how do you react?

I keep seeing people say something along the lines of that but you have to realize that making pieces that "doesn't look like they do anything" is the whole point of realism. I personally take it as a compliment but when people start using that as their reason for not voting for someone in the battle arena it really does piss me off. Use a different reason...

Post your reactions to similar comments and maybe some of your realism work :)

Hey i think those sigs are really nice. I dont know if i have many realism tags but the ones you posted have great concepts and i really understand the points your trying to get across in all of them. Tags are supposed to be about concept, effect, and depth. I think these sigs give great examples of all.
basically ive been inspired by a cheap indian. :D

Gets me mad, really. Not every tag has to have an abundant amount of effects.

That was one of my pieces. added some slight effects to his shoulder, but other than that I really didn't do a whole lot, as I went for a realism feel.

It pretty much depends..If all you did was find a stock and put a render against it then you shouldn't really be surprised at those comments, but if you make your backgrounds from scratch and then find a render, I can see how you'd be angry. Thats probably why most people don't do that style, because it's hard to show you actually did anything unless you show them the original image, or say you actually made the background.

sometimes IMO its good if it doesn't like you did anything that means that you blended everything together almost perfectly

Hadouken, I must disagree. Stock blending is one thing a lot of people lack as tag makers. I don't know too many people who make BG from scratch unless they use terragen (sp?) I almost never see a bg from scratch though there was this one person, UV Graphix, who did that and he was really good. I personally stopped using renders so I just use multiple stocks to make tags. You have to realize that colors, lighting, depth... they all count for something too. It's not all just "FX!!!!" I find concept a really big part of tags which a lot of people don't.

Btw, when you say making tags from scratch do you mean digipainting?

    Some concept/realism tags:

For those of you who want some inspiration for realism tags, search Kennedy, UV Graphix, and Pulse. Personally, I think they are three of the best realism tag makers.

    ^^

Realism isnt about having effects on the tag its how you see it and how you want it(why must every tag have effects). I try and go for a good concept then worry about the depth and lighting..

yeh, its just stocks you didnt do much...wtf

just happend to me in a battle vs Manahan so i ended it before it was over and sent him his winnings(Manahan did have a good tag i thought)

nothing against the people who voted against me on the reasons below as thats how you see it and feel, but come on..

    http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php...t&p=4101566

    i still <3 you ^_^

those kind of reasons seem bs to me personally, it might seem like a stock but its more than a stock.. Why must everyone whore c4d/smudge etc

    hey.. lol.

Graphix is by far the best for making everything on his own, but i believe graphix does art or something like that in RL.. i might be mistaken.

I just got a graphic tablet and once i get used to it i might start making my own backgrounds and stuff in my tags and i occassionaly use terragen too but not too often.

but yeh it does annoy me alot

oh ---- i forgot pulse xD

I find 3 types of realism:
    A. Total realism, everything looks realistic and looks like one stock
    B. Realism with minor FX but still keeps the captured/realistic scene like Kennedy was talking about
    C. Concept realism. Things like the tag Pulse posted and the last two tags I posted would fit here.

I personally go with all of them but concept gives me more inspiration. Reailsm tags just get me.. the tags with smudged BG, c4d fx just got old fast.

Where do you guys get your stocks from? All of mine are outdated xD

i dont know how to call what i am making but people havent whined with me yet thankfully. tho i've seen some of those replys at few kennedy's sigs but my only advice to those people is to try make something similar by themselves, believe me most of them wont be able to do it, cause its freaking hard somethimes to blend stocks nicely or place c4d's properly for nice environment. so my advice to those smartguys is to stfu and try to make something similar by themselves.

indian i pm a u amazing pack of fashion stocks u never seen mate.

I wouldn't exactly call those tags realism more than minor photo manipulation/retouching. All I'm saying is that you(generally speaking) shouldn't be too surprised when people say stuff like that.

    Well I would. I consider a photomanip 1 stock. Not 4 or 5.

that would be great opus :)

google has lq stocks (usually) and I don't think I can use DA pieces. I'll look for wallpapers though. I looked once at this site called gamewallpapers.com (creative name) but they have some rule about paying for membership to get their wallpapers.
