About 45 minutes ago I set water on the stove to boil. In my mom's brand new like $200 teflon coated super pot. I game back onto the computer and worked on a few things I was working on. Then about 10 minutes ago my brain kicks in, and subconsciously reminds me that I have had water boiling for a long while. I run into the kitchen. (All the lights are out btw, 3am). My kitched is glowing red from the element and the pot. The water is all evaporated, of course. The bottom of the pot is glowing red. So I turn on the lights and rush over there. Pick up a oven mitt and move the pot onto another element while turning of the other one. Now I run away cause the pot is making scary noises like it's going to explode. I'm sorry but I don't want to be the thing stopping shrapnel from hitting the precious kitchen table. Anyways, I come back about 5 minutes later to survey the damages and see the bottom of the pot is covered in some greyish ash type thing. That I take a few minutes to scrub away with a metal-wire-ball (whatever they are called) and warm water. I slowly turn warm water to cold to cool down the pot. Now I look inside the pot and notice brownish-yellow veins of ripplish lighting spreading along the bottom of the pan. I have tried washing it with soap, with the metal-wire-ball, but they won't go away. Does anyone know how to get rid of these, or even know what I am talking about. I would greatly appreciate it because otherwise I am going to have to buy my mom a new pot.

    Thanks,

    PM

jeez thats alot for a pot. Im not a 100% sure that the pot shld have done that so maybe a guarentee and trade it for a new one or something, i dunno. But $200 is alot and its either that or tell ur mom and hope that she doesnt ban you from the kitchen for life.

Oh yes, I forgot about the warranty. Hopefully leaving the pot on the element for 35 minutes isn't a breach of it....

For $200 it doesn't sound like a very good pot.

YOU NEED A NICE STURDY ONE that can be used for evaporating water.

But yeah, I can't see how that would break warrenty so go slap the shop owner.

Well done you screwed up the pot with the metal scourer. You see the steal is coated with teflon when you scrub it the teflon comes off! Your screwed, just hide it.

It is stuffed for sure - if you use it now you'll be poisoning your body with god knows what - even coated pots etc with tiny scratches contaminat your food... Buy your mum a big box of chocolates - then tell her an hr later :D
