don;t take a stabs at me bout this cred issue and such..
-all i have to say is when u have made all your creds legitly and not buyin off peeps, then u can take a stab at me..1 i have donated/used/helped out more than 30k of creds...the issue isn't creds..also if i was here to make $$ i would have not donated/helpedetc.. and sold all my creds for probably close to 1 grand. me popular? u crazy, i just have a few quality stuff..
also i made the majority of my creds last year.(early 06)

again GR is "downhill" due to the fact that its not really acommunity anymore, its a more of a business place. All these tuts/resources are played out, b/c of peeps want to sell.

I wasn't pointing the issue directly to you, or anyone. I was using your popularity as an example. I mean no offense to you in any way if thats how you took it.

As a very new member at GR, being active only in the past month, I just wanted to say that I did not regret coming here. I really learnt alot over here, and it accelerated my graphics growth more than I could ever imagined (I'm still noob now though).

I do not know how the past GR was like since I'm new to GFX and new here as I've said earlier. But I think that the GR now is pretty good atm. Flaming is almost a standard in huge public forums so I don't really care about that. Everything else about GR is just excellent IMO, except the credit system.

As for GR being more of a market than a community, I'm afraid I've to agree to that. I came here from a forum w/o any credit system and they have a very strong community section. People have the incentive to come back to the forum solely because of the community. At GR, the Marketplace seems to be the busiest of place. I have a feeling that a substantial portion of the people here are just credit-hungry.

But on second thought, there are many people I see who buy those resources and give them out for free. So I can't really say that GR one have people who are hungry for credits can I? These people are the ones that really contribute to the forums and should be commended. :)

As for me myself, I don't care about credits. I never touch mine except to buy one nickname changer. Whatever pittance of resources that I make, I give them out for free.

The site is not going downhill, we've lost/gained a whole new load of staff, there's some great new competitions out and if anything we're starting to pick up speed.

A healthy Marketplace Economy is a good thing, and a good draw to the community, if we remove the elitist's it's perfect.

The staff that left, left because they felt the site was going downhill on top of a couple of miniscule additions. The marketplace is healthy from what I have seen, I have sold over 3 signatures for 2K+ each in the past month alone and those were all binned within 24 hours. Those complaining again are the ones who a) dont wanna adjust their style because they worked so hard to copy someone else, or B) are trying to sell white sigs with a sprite and a rainbow gradient C4D over the sprite for 5.9K credits.

The new staff, for the most part, is doing a great job, and hopefully after removing all the elitist jerks from the site, the general members will start recognizing the purpose for the new rules and systems and start supporting the staff rather than running against us.

I haven't been here as long as some of ytu but I can see how much gr has changed in little over a year,
yes to some it may seem to be going down hill e.g: people that were selling tuts and sigs for extravagent prices, but to others, mainly new members its an improvment as they are able to learn new skills and tecniques without having to buy a ---- load of credits first.

Gamerenders isn't going downhill, it IS changing. Some people disagree with the changes that are happening, others don't mind, flow with them and find new aspects of the site they like. I've been on GR with one account or another for quite a while now, still not back in '05 (well maybe late 05 actually) but still I've seen a lot of changes here, and a lot of members come and go, and imho GR is still a healthy community, albeit one with slightly different views and interests.
I mean yeh there are some negatives, creds no longer carry the weight they should, I do get annoyed when people sell tags for ridiculous prices just because that artist was good a year ago (I mean seriously, some tags that are uber simplistic sell for well over 5k just because of a name...) but then I don't complain because I don't have to buy them. It's that simple, lol. And yeh, the general resources around here are low, but in the past month the staff have really boosted the sites potential for good resources, with the Tutorial rule and the Downloads section.
And there is STILL a good community here helping people get better, people like double.frank and Wamm who spend hours in the Signature section. I mean when I came to GR very few experienced artists would give a newb a minute of their time; it's by no means perfect now but at least there are SOME that try, and the rate of improvement in new "artists" is much greater then when I began using CS2 :)

In short, I would say give it a month or two. More scammers are being caught and dealt with, the Staff team is at the strongest I've known it for a long time, and eventually the new rules etc. will begin to have a positive effect and more people will release resources. Don't worry about the cred system; if all you look for are faults that's all you'll find, and of course it has some  But GR is by no means dying :P

Some changes that gr is going through are for the better so I can't really complain. Sucks how tutorials can't be sold though, lol. But It's cool.
