Problem Saving Images

For some reason when i try to save an image i only have the option to save it as Bitmap (bmp). This is really a pain cuz it makes the grey part of png's show up. Anyone know what i can do to fix this?

 

make sure you click save as ,not just save.

and us like paint or something

 

clear your temporary internet files and cookies under tools and options if your using internet explorer

 

when u press file>new make sure its in rgb mode

 

Depends on the source you are trying to save the image from. Google and msn image searchs allow you to save as the original file type. Yahoo image search only allows you to save as bmp if you are using IE, Firefox on the other hand allows you to save yahoo images as whatever file type they are.

 

I'm getting this same problem right now... I tried to save some renders and it only gives me bmp. Then this guy made a sig for me, hosted it on img28.exs.cx, its clearly a gif file but it only allows me to save it as bmp.

 

I havent always had this problem, it just started a little while ago.
heres what happens
I find a nice render on this site, Right click, Save Picture as... Then all it gives me to save it as is Untitled BMP.
