    Discuss.

I want to keep the general discussion topic from swaying into flames, so... " 'Legendary' signature artists never have existed. When will people get it through their heads that signatures are not an expression of ones emotions, they are to express identity and aesthetics."

    Response to Kennedy.

"I kind of miss some of the stuff you could find here."
I referred the reply partly to that...

The people who I like to refer legendary were the one's delivering the goods in the marketplace, that's just how I see it.

    Tags are pointless.
    End of discussion.
your '------' designers in the end went on to or did larger works which most of them excelled in... yet again quiet a lot of these '------' designers failed miserably when it came to a larger canvas. Larger implying bigger than your default 400x100.

Tags are made for fun, it's a hobby, they're not a "serious business", something to do with your time instead of just reading some random forums about dogs licking mens balls.

And actually without tagging I wouldn't be able to enjoy watching art.

Well thats your personal opinion. To me tags are nothing i cant look at a tag and think to myself wow now isnt that amazing. Even with large works it takes a lot to draw my attention, any tiny flaw i'll pick out and expose. I'm not saying i go for the 100% perfect pieces i just like seeing something thats full of soul and life. Which in my opinion cannot be portrayed in a tiny canvas.

I've seen some damn good signatures. One artist comes into mind: vectoreyez. If you're not familar with him, you should be. He's "legendary" for spending upwards of a week on a single signature. He generally draws and does all his own stock, brushes, everything. Just because the canvas is 400 x 100 doesn't mean the work is automatically crap. To me, someone well-known or "legendary" in signature designing is often someone who defined a trend. You can look back at past styles, and generally, you picture at least one name in your mind based on that style. Mancer - 3/style sigs, bloodandiron - grunge, stott, atreyu, irrel, MaynardsTOOL - vector, etc.

I agree with your statement 100%, but i go with Kennedy too, i Make sigs for a hobbie. Not just that it teaches you how to add depth composition...ect A lot of what you do in sigs you need the skill to make a Large Piece, and LP's are what people are looking for to buy.

There is a certain LP artist that ppl seem to cream their pants over still (since I was last active)... I don't know who decided they were king ---- of LP artists but I really don't see what the fuss is about... there are some 'no names' I have noticed over the past week that would kick their arse in a battle, yet I still see auctions selling LP's from a certain person acting like we are all supposed to drop to our knees and bow to the glory that is _____. Piss off I say - the --- crap is created by others trying to make a buck off someone else's name...

Give all the 'no names' a go I say - they're just as talented - they just don't have suck holes trying to make a buck off their talent is all :D
