As of 8:50 PM Pacific Time

    Obama: 338 Electoral Votes
    McCain: 156 Electoral Votes

    Popular Votes:
    Barack Obama (Dem) 47,549,707 -- 51%
    John McCain (Rep) 44,094,024 -- 48%

I am happy with either Obama or McCain, as I don't really mind either.

Just sad for Obama as his grandmother passed away earlier today.

I voted for him as well. I wanted him to win because he deserves a chance... He's ran for so long... What happened to the phrase "Everyone deserves a chance"???

But I woulda liked to see Palin in the house

Anyone else think America is really s***? I was watching Fox news (i dunno why the f*** Fox news was on TV) and I swear it was like the f***ing matrix code. Numbers and words and s*** everywhere.

In my country all the people that wanna be Prime Minister just get together and have a battle royale cage wrestling match. Last one left alive gets the job. Needless to say, that's why we're prone to not invading Iraq.

I take it you like being the root cause of a global economic crash? Yeah, didn't think so.

As for president, finally someone I agree with.

I was supportive of anyone who wanted to vote McCain if they had a legitimate reason why. Too many people never saw past the slander and false statements/ quotations though. I'm happy with Obama as a charismatic leader, I was kinda hoping to be able to have one of those in my lifetime :) When it came down to their REAL plans though, I was split. I don't oppose having money circulating in the U.S.A. more to help our healthcare, but I didn't care much for the whole Upper class save the lower class thing. Lifeboat Ethics etc... if anyone knows that reference. But the fact is, your taxes were going up no matter which guy became president. Tax breaks, if any, are going to be minimal, and will still probably result in a net increase in what you pay the government. MY main selling point was that we should be paying for our healthcare in the U.S., not Iraq's. I don't really care how long we fight an idea that will be around as long as humans exist, just don't put so much effort into it :/

Long story short, helluva night, it will be fun to tell my kids about this.

I didn't read through all the posts yet because I'm still taking this in, but this shows that americans are accepting change, for all people this shows that only our vote alone doesn't count we all as one make it count, this race couldn't have been won by just one ethnicity alone.

It's not change that worries me, it's integrating too much at once (and the wrong kind), when in the past things have worked sort of okay. I'm not saying things are great, I just think Obama's hopes are too high. He seems unpredictable to me and, to me, seems to have socialist values. The government isn't supposed to pay for everything, it was barely supposed to have a presence in our lives when it was made. Now people will rely too much on the government, instead of doing things themselves, which is what they should be doing.

Have any of you looked into his church and those he's associated himself with?

I'm not outright saying Obama is going to be a bad president, but from what research I did, I just get a bad feeling about him. He means well, that much I know. But you can mean the best intentions in the world and still start a genocide (not like he'll do that, it's just an example). I obviously voted for McCain... >.< (I knew he'd lose though...) Oh well, such is life. I can still complain when Obama does bad, and cheer when he does good. Life goes on.

You guys are seeing why I hate our voting system. The electoral system was implemented in a time where votes couldn't be accurately counted for an entire country. Now we have the technology to use the popular vote instead, yet we're not willing to change to use it. My vote was completely useless because I live in a liberal state, while I vote conservative. They say that this is the most important election to vote in, yet why vote when my vote might as well have been thrown in the trash? I could already tell you that all of Oregon's electoral votes would go to Obama. McCain still would have lost, but at least my vote would have counted for more than the crap on your shoe.

Considering you are of christian faith... and you are calling him out on his christian faith... are you sure you aren't just a fox news follower and believing everything the media tells you? Do you think hes just a terrorist muslim who was covertly snuck into the white house and now plans to dismantle the entire country from the inside? Seriously.

Well, Dem, are you a MSNBC follower? Why did you vote for Obama? I never watched Fox, I did watch MSNBC and they are a Obama supporting channel and I didn't vote Obama. What made me vot for McCain was Obama's stance in alot of things. He wants to tax small bussiness and give that money to people that claim welfare. So we take money away from the hard workers and give it to the people that don't work? He also wants to bankrupt the Coal Industry, causing 1000's of lost jobs and maybe higher gas/fuel prices. He also stated that with the coal industry bankrupt, it will of course raise electricty rates, which he seems fine with.

Why did you vote for Obama Dem, besides his term "Change"?
