i hardly noticed the rollovers. with soo much text the bgs blend into each other. Also dude, get a time out, your getting way too worked up about this also there are loads of free web hosts without any ads...
Actually, I'm quite sure the :hover pseudo-class works in IE (its one of the very few out of many that actually does work, along with :link, :visited, and :active). As for the actual template. I quite like the banner, although I feel it could use something extra. Try and break up that solid black background. Light gradient maybe? (You all know you saw the gradient suggestion a mile away). I don't like the text on the navigation. You could actually css-atize those buttons more if you ditched that yellow styled font, and used actual text. Your content boxes seem a bit boring... Since its a portfolio, think of what your going to use content boxes for, then create them according to those needs. Have something like a "featured work" spot, "updated" spot. etc. Throw something out there besides three boxes on top of each other. Here's just an idea. Then you'd try and vary the style/color between the boxes, to show contrast. As for the mousover on the content boxes? I really dont see I point. (I do see the change though). Copyright? OK, now to tweek your code a tad bit. Lets make it standards compliant... First, ALL your images need to have alt or longdesc attributes (further explanation). Second, also pertaining to the images, you need to close your <img> tags (done by adding a slash before the end of the tag). So for images... Incorrect Code: Correct Code: Standards compliant and helpful to the disabled reading your site. You also need to close your meta tag... Correct Code: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> And finally, you can never label something with an any one ID more than once. When you get to the point you are using an ID more than once in your document, its time to turn it into a class. Incorrect Code: #border { border:1px solid black } ---------------- <div id="border">Lorem Ipsum</div> <div id="border">Dolar site amet</div> Correct Code: .border { border:1px solid black } ---------------- <div class="border">Lorem Ipsum</div> <div class="border">Dolar site amet</div> (You have two IDs that you use on 3 things). By the way, as I said before, the :hover psuedo-class should work fine in IE (craptastic as it is), you dont need all that javascript. Hope that helps you out there. Nice job on migrating to CSS.
pseudo classes only work on anchors in IE , not other element types , I mean c'mon, IE6 doesn't even support the "position: fixed;" declaration also, I totally agree with the layout choice that E^2 showed.
okay i dont want to create a huuuge issue out of this man. But what you said was absolutely out of line. i wasnt the only person who didnt notice the rollovers and i was merely stating my opinion. I also never said anything as utterly rude as "dude your layouts suck to the bone" So lets put this behind us. obviously what i said got to you for some reason and I apoligise for whatever got on your nerve.
Hehe sorry aboutt that mate, had a really bad day, nothing to do with your critism. Well anyways about the ie thing igot so sick of it, nothing seemed to work and my dad is like the uberownage and couldnt figure out the problem. (uber ownage = 15 years of experrience, he knows: c++, java, javascript, perl, cgi, php, basic, delphi, css, etc.) about the free webhos, i have my own server but i didnt use it since i just wanted to upload it and check if it works etc ^^ edit: btw i made this with about 20 minutes of css experience ^^
well, that's another awesome factor of CSS it's very easy to implement, the hard part is doing it effectively
i like the banner but i don't think the rest of the site reflects on the banner if u get me? but as u said ur just learning with css so it will get better as u learn to make things better.
