Ok, what does PNG actually stand for? And what is the technical difference between that and a JPEG? I'm not stupid...I know better quality, but why?
PNG, means Portable Network Graphics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNG (everything about PNGs) I don't know why people don't just look on Wikipedia, it has everything.
They're basically the same but a major difference is that png supports transparency (not in IE), like what the renders here on GR use.
IE supports transparentcy..but the webmaster has to put a javascript code in the coding in order for it to work.
Firefox shows transparency for all images. It makes everything look a lot better instead of having black around it.
