since you're getting a new baord

    and a new CPU...

    c2d e6600
    2GB DDR2 RAM
    DFI Infinity 975X/G revision 2

or wait until monday since AMD is supposedly announcing K10 CPUs that day. If there are solid performance numbers buying an AM2 setup might be wise, then just plop in K10 when it comes out.

you may want to upgrade it, depending on exactly what you do (intensive gaming or graphics stuff would be a good reason to upgrade it.)

his card is good enough, just flash ti to an x1800XT and he can probably put off an upgrade for quite some time.

to, i dunno the same time Better DX10 cards are in production and are more economical(G81 and R600)

it would be cost effective to upgrade to lets say and evga 7900gs (and then when the time comes to stepup to a better card)

i mean the card i mentioned its only 134$ after rebate on newegg.

    x1800XT>7900GS in performance though.

gosh... you people... just because you HAVE money doesn't mean you need to spend it ASAP...

prices are always coming down and stuff is getting cheaper faster and more efficient. If you have something good enough, there is no reason to constantly swap.

again, he should be able to unlock 4 pipelines on that x1800XL to effectively make it into an x1800XT and then... BAM
