    i think my dad might have a copy of the real book. i know for a fact that my old teacher did.

    Get it.

    Also, learn the blues scales (if you've been playing 10 years then surely you've come across them at least once?).

    for shizzle. i can play blues pretty well already. a big book of randy newman songs taught me.


    when i say jazz though i mean like modern. brubeck, etc.

    Does this big book have everything written out for you? (left hand, right hand and all ornamentation and chording)

    yeah it has it all written out. the thing is, he didnt write it out when he wrote the songs, so most of the notation is garbled nonsense. i have to make it up as i go using the book for structure.
