phpbb version 2.0.22, anyways, having issues where if my forums are not set to admin activation, i get people trying to advertise crap by creating accounts and posting. I had to make it admin activation or the forums get spammed up by random junk, some of it not very nice...anyways, how would I go about making this stop? if there is, if you want to see what I'm talking about send me a PM and i can send you the site info and you can look at the user list and see what I'm talking about. any help appreciated.
IP Bans? I realize there are proxies but that's the first thing you can do erm. . . and you can also see if the name is following a pattern and ban all names of that user. AKA: Jewe1 Jewe2 Jewe3 etc.
Sounds like bots not people, upgrade to the next best version. Also make the users type the verification code while registering, and email validation...
