Well after some simple research here is my guide to try and be safe with PHP-Nuke. - First and formost dont use PHP-Nuke versions 7.7 or 7.8 because it has WSIWYG editor and a hacker can easily place some malicious codes and take down your site. Use 7.6. - Now that you know to use 7.6...install a patch. Installing a patch will have you protected against most security holes that are found in PHP-Nuke. Click Here to find a patch for your PHP-Nuke 7.x - Now that you are patched you should install sentinel and configure it properly to protect from hackers. *Note: when you are doing the sentinel edits you may not find some edits because it may have already been done from the patch. I had no trouble installing it so it shouldnt be that bad. Click here to get sentinel - Keep your forums up to date. The current latest version is 2.0.17. Only problem here is that you have to upgrade from version to the next. *Note if you installed the patch 3.1 then there is no need to do this as it contains 2.0.17 alrady Click here to download BBtoNuke updates - Now the last thing you need to do is rename your admin.php file. Hit your head a few times on the keyboard and what you get use that as the name of your admin.php file. Now open up config.php and where it says admin in the first few lines change it to your new file name but dont put .php at the end. Now that you did that your links in the side administration block wont work. This can be easily fixed in the blocks administration by hitting edit and changing the links. And thats it. Your PHP-Nuke is now safe from most attacks. Any questions let me know
Thanks. I used to use nuke before but I kept on getting hacked so I left it and switched over to IPB. Now Im just researching it a bit more and with proper security measures its really safe to use.
hmm, I used PHPNuke for awhile, but I got so tangled up in it that I just dropped it. There's a whole lot of crap in there youd never use...
