This I know. I had Norton, and I can recommend, through personal experience, that you never waste your resources using such a crappy program. It's a virus magnet, not deterrent. I go with under the radar, less thorough things just because hackers are less likely to want to crack them. And they're free. Norton killed our computer. Trojan killed the software after turning it against us, then invited other viruses in for the party. Needless to say, it no longer is so much as allowed within this house, even if it's just in the box. If you're worried, be more wary of where you download from. Take preventative measures instead of simply protective ones. And, for goodness' sake, do not ever recommend Norton anything to anyone.
Code: www.virustotal.com is also awesome for it's free online service, just upload the file you downloaded from the Internet and have it scanned by 12+ different AV softwares.
Kaspersky Internet Security, haven't needed to do a spyware scan in over two years, it blocks everything bad, even tracking cookies
@Nicasus I paid for it but my brother bought it with his student license so I could get the discount. @Mortified Penguin I don't use norton since I don't worry about virus's (my scanner is common sense) but it happens to be the only one that I know of so I used it as a general example.
Oh great, so now you're just violating the license you agreed to upon registration. Much better. (at least Adobe gets something though )
Well my brother is a student so has the right to buy it discounted and whether or not he uses it is irrelevant
Actually, that's wrong. It specifically says that only the student who bought it is allowed to use it . It should say it on the box, but if not, it's in the license. It's a non-transferable non-commercial license (although they never specify that it's non-commercial anywhere except through word of Adobe mouth, so, to be frank, I'm going to wait to update it. Their student license needs some work.)
I know it was illegal (hence the wink) but c'mon it's not like he's handing it out on the street, so he let's his brother use it. It ain't a big deal is it
I still think I'm liking i4n. And anyways, I don't use Kaspersky, I had it for 30 days (trial) and yes, it's the best out there.
It's a horribly hugely amazingly big deal! So big, in fact, that it would squish the entire state of Texas! ...or not. I let my brother install Master Collection CS4 on his computer . I just love to complain.
