Ok, i have had photoshop for about 2 and a half years now. But ever since two weeks ago i have had a problem with it where when i minimize it, and bring it back up all of the windows turn white and photoshop is unresponsive for about a minute. The tools are also contributing to this problem, everytime i switch from a tool to the text type tool, it locks up for about 30 seconds and i cant do anything. This just recently started happening, and i tried to reinstall and deleting the files and settings. I also tried to reinstall in another directory. Heres some extra info - Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 - AMD Athlon 64 Processor 2.0 Ghz 1gb RAM - Ive done all of the windows updates - Run a virus and spy ware scans every weekend used: AVG NOD32 AVAST XoftSpy Anti Spyware Adaware SE Spybot S&D Spyware Doctor - No software installed lately Please help someone. I need to get back to my designing jobs
What photoshop version? I have got a similar setup as yours & it hangs on CS2 if i do something else so its not a problem just that CS2 rapes the memory DARKSTAR
You need enough for photoshop to tick over nicely. Like a gig at least! What over program do you have open as well as PS?
i would think its a memory one of the comps i have cs2 on has a 6 GB mem and only around 400-600 MB left so sometimes when iam running CS2 and other programes i get this problem...
Yeah, it's just a problem with RAM. Go to Edit>Preferences>Image & Memory Cahce. Then, raise the percentage of 'Memory Usage' higher. This'll make other programs slower, but PS faster.
