But there are similar functions that are somewhat the same. Just not completely the same.

Personally they are the same IMO.. The only difference is that photoshop has more tuts (so it's easier to understand) and photoshop has more effects.
You can do almost the same stuff in Gimp as photoshop..
I make all my sigs in gimp and im not bad :P

I use GIMP, and follow photoshop tuts fine.
They do offer the same things fundamentally.
I also know how to use photoshop filters with gimp though.

GIMP is alright for the enthusiast but Photoshop CS is better in my opinion. It's just that the community support for Photoshop CS exceeds the one that GIMP possesses by huge amounts.

PS is much better, it's easier to learn how to use it. GIMP is super-fustrating.

Their is no difference you just need to download some photoshop things that need to be cnverted to GIMP. And most buttons that are in photoshop are in GIMP but in different areas/categaories

I refuse to use Photoshop, I'm strictly Gimp and Paint.net.

You shouldn't have to pay to make art.

I personally never used Gimp, but I know several people who did and you couldn't tell that they weren't using Photoshop.
