So if I understand right, you cannot do the copy until it is completed...

I have seen an image where somone was using the pen tool and deleting sections as he went. I cannot seem to find a method that will allow me to do that as I can with the lasso. The lasso is not bad, but I want more control smoothing curves out that need it. Can anyone shed some light on how to delete sections with the pen tool?

I said this in the tutorial, look closer, it's there. Basically do the same thing, but just select the bg, then hit delete.

Mine does the same, when I use the pen tool, my render goes black...after a few clicks, my selection just turns black, any reason for this?

This tutorial shows the "bad" way to use the pen tool... the way you do it is kinda the same thing as polygonal lasso tool... I think I should write a tutorial about the "right" way to do it...

This is the french tutorial... maybe just follow the pictures... And yes I wrote it

P.S: Scroll down to see the tutorial, first part is kinda useless

    very helpfull, love it!!

    Only 2 question:
-leave anti aliasing on or off?? cause you say to turn off, but in the ss it is left on.

    -what does anti aliasing do?

Because of the amount of bad renders I've seen lately, I've decided to bump this topic to show the REAL way to do it.

To answer some questions i didn't before. The black you get after a few clicks occurs because you have "Shape layers" selected in the pen properties area. Go to the bar at the top of photoshop and select the box that looks like a rectangle with boxes at the corners and the pen inside (it should say "Paths" if you hover over it). I hope that helps.
