Finally my power adaptor for my graphics card arrived, but I went to put it in and it doesn't fit. It's the right adaptor (I'm not so stupid that I'd order the wrong thing) but it doesn't seem to want to go in. this is the adaptor I got. Any ideas?

It should defenatly fit. But hey, doesn't HiS include a power converter for it? I got one from my MSI x1950pro included.

Do you mean it wont fit in the card or in the molex?

that should be the right adapter.

plug in two molex connectors to it and then plug the PCI-e power into the card.

I used a connector like that to power my 7800GT with my craptastic raidmax PSU just fine...

On closer inspection it looks like the top middle plug on the adaptor has been pushed too far in, and then crimped. This explains why it only went halfway in. I'm just gonna buy another one, they're only 99p.

You could try and take the power cords out of the plug thing, and plug each 6 cords into the card independently, and see if it works.

I'll try, but I don't think it'll work cause the wires were crimped into the plug things, so if I pull the wires I'll either break the wire, or the wire will come out but not the plug. I'll see if I can remove it though.

I got it working now, but the temps are skyhigh. 80 degrees idle!! It froze when I was in the middle of CS:S. Are these temps normal?

    EDIT: Sorry for double post

GFX cards do normallyu get hot, but 80C idle is a bit much.

right nwo my 7600GT is idling 52C with crappy stock cooler and you're card has a much better cooler. Though the radeons do run hotter and are a little rmoe heat tolerant, they aren't supposed to get that hot.

either RMA or check for HSF to die contact, it might be a bad mount.

The temps are down a bit (thankfully). It's now 51 idle and 86 under load. I think it just needed to be 'worn in'. This was the same with my old GFX card when I installed the new cooler on it. It crashed the first time I tried to benchmark it, but after that it worked perfectly.
