Norton doesnt qualify as part of the best of them. Just today nortan wouldnt stop screwing up and wouldnt let me play any games.

For antivirus, use avast or the new windows defender.

For antispyware, use Spybot search and destry, ad aware, or microsoft anti-spyware.

For a software firewall, you already named it, use zonalarm.

Norton is crap, Mcaffee is ok Trend micro is the best IMO.
Zone Alarm works too well and unless you really know what your doing most games will not be allowed to access the internet.

    IMHO
    Anti-Virus: NOD32 2.5
    Anti-spyware: Spybot S&D
    Anti-Ad-aware: Ad-Aware SE Professional
    Anti-Malware: Ewido Security Suite
    Firewall: ZoneAlarm Security Suite

Never had one single problem with any of these programs. (year+ using them)

    I have something similar:

    Anti-Virus: Avast & Symantec Antivirus Corp. 10
Anti-spyware: Spybot S&D, Webroot Spy Sweeper
    Anti-Ad-aware: Ad-Aware SE Professional
    Anti-Malware: Ewido Security Suite
Firewall: Sygate Personal Firewall (I just use their last free edition before symantec took it over.)

yes, i have two anti-virus programs. I have fine tuned them to work together. As I found out, Symantec is sometimes better than Avast.. then again, Avast gets more frequent updates..

You should seriously trust me on this one and go with AVG, get the free version. Most IT proffesionals use it, because it is simply the best.

Well, most PC Hardware shops install AVG on custom built pc's. My college uses AVG, and the business my mum works at uses AVG aswell.

You should also go and have a look at tech-forums.net anti-virus section, most people will recommend AVG. tech-forums.net has allot of veteran pc users.

no, condoms block tranferable diseases, not computer viruses, malware and spyware... :P

the safest ever computer was one that never connected to the internet, and never installed any other software than the os. that was the safest thing ever...
