Use the 75 gb hdd and an extra hdd (slower one) with like 250 gb. The fast one for programs and games and the bigger one for storage.

that's true, but the 7900GT and X1800XT will max out pretty much everything at good resolutions, and DX10 compatable cards with unified shader architectures are just around the corner. Just because you can spend money doesn't mean that you should. The transistor count and complexity of chips grows exponentially as does the software complexity. No matter what, you will be wanting a new card in 1-3 years so why spend twice as much?
