Unless you have a Canadian account, you do need a CC/Bank account linked to your paypal to use the money on it.

You can receive money and it'll stay there but you'll need a cc or bank account to send.

Dude, Paypal is lame! They took $40 that I didn't have in my savings account. I didn't buy anything, it just said Paypal fee on my bank statement. There were no records of the transaction on my Paypal log. I tried to fight them and get my account balanced out, but they just sent me an email basically telling me to ------ off. If you read the fine print in the ToS, it tells you that they can freeze your funds and do a bunch of stupid ---- with your money. I don't recommend using them. Open a checking account and use your checking account number to buy things online.

I'll have to check that out. Are they widely accepted?
